You’ll climb the same passes Berber traders have used for centuries, through juniper forest and high plateau, ending most days the same way: mint tea, poured hot, in a home that isn’t yours but starts to feel like it. This Mountain Biking route over the Moroccon Atlas Mountain covers seven days and a version of the country most visitors never reach on two wheels.
The route runs from the green Ourika Valley up through the pass at Tizi Tadmamt, deep into Berber villages most maps barely mark, before looping back through the Kik Plateau and finishing, fittingly, in the chaos of Jemaa el Fna. Choose your own difficulty on day four, an easy paved option or the same zig-zag climb from the day before, this Mountain Biking route across the Morocco Atlas Mountains adjusts to how your legs are feeling, not just what’s on the map.

We recommend packing the following items:
– Normal daily clothes
– Padded cycling shorts and gloves
– Breathable top or cycling jersey
– Sunglasses/eye protection
– Stiff-soled shoes suitable for cycling
– Waterproofs and long cycling trousers
– For the earlier departures you may need some warmer layers
– Sun cream
– Water bottle or Camelback
– Energy cycling gels offer a quick form of carbs replenishment. Most contain the simple carb sugar, which is the fastest form of energy to replace glycogen. It’s suggested that people who cycle at a moderate intensity for more than 90 minutes, need to replace between 30g and 65g of carbohydrates per hour and we would thoroughly recommend bringing some of these with you, as well as some energy bars
