This is Road Cycling Morocco at its most complete: eleven days from the High Atlas to the edge of the Sahara, crossing the 2,260-meter Tichka Pass, the fortified kasbahs of Ait Benhaddou, and canyon country most travelers only see from a tour bus window.
By day six you’re at the foot of the dunes in Merzouga, climbing the great dune at sunset with views that reach all the way to Algeria. The final mountain pass, on the way back to Marrakech, brings seven separate peaks over 4.000 meters into view at once. Few Road Cycling Morocco Routes cover this much ground, or this much of the country’s extremes, in a single trip.
